Shoot I remember that one. Can’t believe that’s only a $15k car. I’d give my arm.

Never should have sold my ‘72, dammit.

I keep my bumpers, it’s not much but it might save getting a new sugar scoop (headlight bucket in Z talk). They never made black so it’s been changed from the original color. I just ordered a Japanese bumper for the rear, no bumperettes, this guy has one. If the owner sees this, there is a company that makes a delete panel for the place where the front bumper connected. But maybe you are getting a Japanese front bumper and it isn’t here yet, like me.

People offer me 20k for mine sometimes, I have more in it than that, besides I’m never selling it. They are going up.

They are going up, I get notes on mine all the time.

Saw this one the other day. Obviously modern paint. Nice shape though.

Probably from guys like me who used to have one and have seller’s remorse.

I got mine by chance, I was searching Craigslist in different towns individually and I found this one in a shed basically, the old guy didn’t post it across a large area or I think the ricers in San Jose would have grabbed it. Then some time later that Petrolicious video came out and people started leaving notes on my car. I am totally convinced that video sparked a Z revival and has started driving up prices, people realised how many were left out to rust or ruined in some other horrible way. Mine had original paint and matching engine, I think it was around 80k miles on it, we rebuilt it anyway.

Lucky, man. They’ve definitely seen a renewed interest, first when the 350Z came out and picked the market up a little, then they came back down, and more recently they’re appreciating as well, with good 240s harder to find. I think the prices of Hakosukas and the like has helped that too. Nobody seems to care about 260s as anything more than engine donors though, they’re still cheap.
A friend of mine who used to live in Los Gatos had a pristine stock (hubcaps and everything) orange one as well when I still had my white car. He sold it when he moved to Australia, not sure where it ended up. Mine was rough but running, I bought it out of a field for $700. I had an R32 Skyline GTS-T front clip with an RB20 for it too, but life happened so that project never saw fruition. I still want to do that, but the appeal of an L28 on Mikunis is hard to deny.

I want to get one of these, I think the value is going to sky rocket in a couple years. Around here I could pick a decent one up pretty cheap.

I was wondering why it looked odd. They put the flares on top of the original little flare. Car is really tall, but looks low because the flare is covering the gap. Would look really good if that was corrected.

Yeah to do it right you have to cut them and I don’t want to do that. You can always keep the pieces and put it back someday if someone wanted to, but they look fine without them. I want to get rid of the side trim but it’s riveted through. At some point I may repaint the front end with new fiberglass fenders and hood. I had to repaint the rear when we repaired some stuff and replaced the area where the hatch closes. My car is much stronger than Datsun made them, we reinforced behind the dog legs on the frame and the rear end is all better metal and bracing.
